We are looking for an Information Assistant to provide information to visitors, volunteers and wider audiences, on the Rutland Ospreys and wider conservation work of Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust. The role will assist in the day-to-day running of the Lyndon Visitor Centre, enabling more people to enjoy the natural heritage of Rutland Water Nature Reserve. In 1996, a translocation project began, which involved moving Osprey chicks from nests in Scotland and releasing them at Rutland Water with the aim to create a self-sustaining breeding population of Ospreys in central England. We now have a self-sustaining population, with over 250 chicks fledged and individuals even breeding in other parts of England and Wales.

From February to September 2025, you will play a pivotal role in engaging the public with the beauty of ospreys and the importance of conservation, making a tangible impact on the preservation of our natural heritage.
This role includes:
Visitor Engagement: Provide face-to-face information about ospreys and wetland species, lead guided walks and osprey cruises, give talks, and deliver public presentations.
Media and Communication: Create engaging blog posts, social media updates, and promotional materials to share the story of Rutland Ospreys far and wide.
Operational Support: Assist with the day-to-day running of the Visitor Centre, support volunteers, and coordinate events and bookings.
