Job Description
I am looking for a Personal Assistant (PA) to support me while I write my book. The role involves helping with organisation, communication, executive functioning, and daily living tasks to allow me to focus on writing.
You must be comfortable around animals, as I have a Bengal cat and will have an assistance dog in the future. Reliability, punctuality, and initiative are essential. It takes time for me to build trust with new people, so consistency is important. Ideally, you understand autism and are comfortable with alternative communication methods, as I am Deaf and autistic and rely on BSL, nonverbal cues, and phone apps to communicate.
This is a job-share position, with 10 hours per week split between Pas, involving set shifts for routine and some flexibility for events and medical appointments.
Main Duties
* Reminders for medication, hydration, appointments, and meals.
* Assist with time management, scheduling breaks, and avoiding burnout.
* Help ensure I pace and manage my chronic illnesses.
* Occasionally provide feedback on sections of my book when requested, particularly on high-fatigue and brain fog days.
Administrative & Communication Support:
* Assist with organising research notes and structuring ideas.
* Manage emails and general admin.
* Facilitate communication via BSL and other written/visual methods.
* Assist with phone calls and note-taking.
Social & Sensory Support:
* Help maintain a distraction-free workspace.
* Adjust lighting and external stimuli to create a comfortable environment.
* Support with managing sensory overwhelm.
* Accompany me to social and leisure activities when required.
Daily Living & Mobility Support:
* Prepare simple meals and batch cooking.
* Help with household chores, including laundry, bins, tidying, and food shopping.
* Accompany me to medical appointments.
* Provide mobility and medication support.
Requirements
* Comfortable in LGBTQ+ spaces.
* Willing to learn BSL (prior knowledge is beneficial).
* Ideally able to drive (not essential).
* Patient, reliable, and proactive.
* Capable of managing OCD-related concerns around time and organisation.
