Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Te Matau a Māui Hawke’s Bay has an immediate need for a specialist who is committed to develop their career and work in a very collegial work environment.
The busy service provides over 3,000 endoscopy procedures per year and approximately 2,000 outpatient appointments. The team currently comprises three gastroenterologists and a team of nurses led by two registered nurses with extensive gastroenterology outpatient and endoscopy experience. We have a very active and involved group of medical and surgical specialists here and a very collegial atmosphere exists.
As our successful candidate, you will have proven skills and experience in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. On application, please include a summary of your endoscopy experience. An ability to perform ERCP and large EMR would be desirable but not essential.
The appointee will be involved in teaching, continuing medical education, and quality improvement. There is an emphasis on ongoing development of services to meet the needs of our patients. A commitment to customer focus, service development, and teamwork are essential.
Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital is a 400-bed accredited facility providing acute and elective care for the Hawke’s Bay region (a population of 160,000 people). The hospital is a modern facility with a full range of surgical, medical, oncology, and radiological services, including MRI, and is one of the largest provincial hospitals in New Zealand. The Regional hospital in Hastings also has links to Health NZ Hawke’s Bay rural services in Wairoa and Waipukurau.
Ruakopito is our newly built state-of-the-art facility on the campus in Hastings that means all our patient-based gastroenterology services are housed in one place providing 2 procedure rooms, patient recovery, resource and administration areas, clinic spaces, and meeting rooms.
The successful applicant should have FRACP and be registered (or is eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
