We are looking to welcome candidates for a 7 PA Consultant post in Palliative Medicine based at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The post will be primarily based in the Scarborough palliative care team.
The principal duty of this post is to provide a comprehensive clinical service to patients from and around Scarborough.
• To at all times, comply with the GMC requirements of Duties of a Doctor.
• To undertake duties as defined within the attached job plan in so far as practicable and in agreement with your Clinical Director.
• To be responsible and managerially accountable for the reasonable and effective use of any Trust resources that you use and influence, and professionally accountable to the Medical Director.
• On commencement to ensure personal attendance at the Trust’s Corporate Induction.
• To fully participate in the Consultant Peer Support Scheme and ensure personal attendance, when invited, at the Consultant Development Programme during your first year in post.
• To be responsible for the clinical management of in and outpatients under your care.
• Provide a comprehensive, high-quality service to patients with Specialist Palliative Care needs from Scarborough and surrounding areas ensuring excellent evidence-based care
• Support and educate clinical teams in hospital and primary care to develop and deliver high quality care to patients with specialist palliative care needs including those approaching the end of life.
• Contribute to the strategic development of palliative and end of life care services across York Teaching Hospitals’ catchment area working closely with local hospices and other local providers and commissioners to deliver an integrated model of end-of-life care.
• Provide an “on call” 1 in 14 telephone cover for all care settings in York, Scarborough, Harrogate and Hull.
• Work with the End of Life and Palliative care lead Nurse to implement the Trust’s End of Life and Palliative Care Strategy to ensure the delivery of effective specialist palliative care and end of life services in the area.
• Provide consultant input into the hospital palliative care team, attend MDTs and provide joint assessments to patients in York Hospitals with specialist palliative care needs.
