About This Role
As part of our Global Training Organisation and civil aviation division, we are recruiting for a rare senior management opportunity in the UK (Gatwick area) or Europe, close to one of our training centre locations. With frequent and extensive travel, the Head of Global Safety (EMEA) will oversee three different regions and lead a team of three Regional Safety Leaders.
Key job responsibilities include:
1. Implementation of the Global framework for a centralized Safety Management System (SMS) to enhance Safety, proactively and preemptively identify hazards, minimize risk, and provide accurate, timely, and pertinent data that will help guide and shape strategic decisions and the Corporate Enterprise Risk Management decision-making process.
2. Management and continuous improvement of the Global Safety Management System required to minimize corporate risk, identify specific operational and training risks, and ensure centralized data sharing channels are established to create usable real-time data in a standardized manner. This SMS implementation must be coordinated with the Head of Global Quality Assurance & Compliance Monitoring, the Head of Global Safety – Maintenance & Engineering, the Heads of Regional Safety, the Heads of Regional Quality Assurance & Compliance Monitoring, as well as the global training centres.
3. Execution of the Safety Management plan and achieving the Safety Performance Targets (SPT’s) related to safety assurance for the year, as well as designing safety promotion materials and safety training courses for all civil division personnel.
4. Establishing and managing the Safety Management System globally, running the EMEA region, and mentoring the Centre Safety Managers and Aviation Safety Representatives to ensure enhanced levels of safety and continuous improvement are attained through a robust system that actively promotes and is based on a Just Culture philosophy.
Our ideal candidate
1. Has previous experience establishing or coordinating a fully functioning Safety Management System for Training Organisations or Airlines.
2. Holds/has held an ICAO recognized Flight Crew License to ATPL level and holds/has held a Type Rating Instructor Certificate.
3. Holds a qualified Safety professional qualification.
4. Is a Qualified Safety Auditor.
5. Has thorough knowledge of ICAO, Transport Canada, FAR, CASA, EASA, and other NAA regulations (as appropriate to the region of assignment) relating to Safety, Quality Assurance, Training, and Operations as well as their impact on CAE’s Commercial customers and their operating requirements.
6. IOSA Audit experience desirable.
7. Is a hands-on experienced and motivational leader with experience in working in a multi-cultural environment, leading remote and local teams.
