The Bury Black Pudding Company are the only Black Pudding producer actually based in Bury. We are currently recruiting for a Production Operative.
We are looking to recruit a Production Operative to join our growing and expanding business. You will be working as part of a team in the Production room where we mix and cook our prestigious Black Pudding.
As a result of increased business and sustained growth, the Production department is moving to a 3-shift rota system to enable us to meet demand. We produce various black pudding products so there is lots of variety in tasks.
This role is an entry-level position within the business, and you do not require any experience as full training will be provided.
Main Responsibilities
1. Responsibility for preparing the individual Black Pudding mixes and starting the mixing process. (Please be aware the mix includes pork fat and dried pork blood).
2. Working on a production or clipping line filling casings and catering sticks in preparation for the cooking process.
3. Overseeing boilers and steamers to ensure the product is cooked to procedure.
4. Follow a cooling procedure before placing racks of product into blast fridges.
5. Working to HACCP programme (critical control points), accurately recording checks and results on relevant documentation.
6. Understand product quality standards and implement necessary corrective action on that which does not meet Company, customer or legal requirements.
7. Keep work area clean and tidy. We operate a clean as you go policy, maintaining high hygiene standards at all times and working to required cleaning specifications and schedules.
8. Excellent Health & Safety and food hygiene standards.
9. Demonstrate excellent standards of personal hygiene.
10. Adhere to strict Quality and Product standards.
Key Skills & Experience
1. Relevant experience, preferably in the food or catering industry, will be advantageous.
2. Good attendance and timekeeping.
3. Ability to adhere to work instructions and standard operating procedures.
4. Good reading and writing skills as there is an element of recording accurate information on internal and supply chain traceable paperwork.
5. Ability to work as part of a team.
6. Flexible with a ‘can do’ attitude.
7. Be enthusiastic and conscientious and understand or be willing to learn the principles and application of Food Safety.
8. Have a proactive approach to excellent manufacturing practices.
Hours of work: 40hrs per week Monday to Saturday on a 3-week shift system.
