PHL are recruiting for a Clinical Supervisor within our busy and expanding Integrated Urgent Care (IUC) services. Helping approximately 15,000 patients per month, every day is different, which makes this an exciting opportunity for passionate and dynamic individuals who wish to develop their clinical and managerial skillset.
As a Clinical Supervisor at PHL, you will be a highly motivated and experienced Nurse or Paramedic with a key role in the provision of high quality IUC services. You will work within our established team to support the clinical delivery of patient care across a range of services, including the Clinical Assessment Service, across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

This is a full-time role including days, evenings and weekends, but no nights. Rota and shift times can be negotiated.
Job responsibilities
* Work with the operational and clinical team to support the delivery of the IUC service specification, with a focus on both patient safety and key performance indicators.
* Provide effective leadership, management, direction and support to the multi-disciplinary clinical team.
* Be resilient and dynamic, performing duties in situations that are sometimes unfamiliar, complex, and unpredictable.
* Attend regular meetings with appropriate partners to support the delivery of the service, providing own expertise, experience, and feedback where relevant.
* Actively develop and facilitate service induction for new members of staff.
* Monitor and support IUC staff during their probationary period, providing mentorship and development opportunities.
* Mentor clinicians in their clinical roles to deliver required standards and expectations whilst working within the IUC.
* Promote and participate in clinical supervision and reflective practice, encouraging others to do so.
* Encourage and support the clinical team to take responsibility for their own learning, development and compliance with their statutory and mandatory training.
* Be responsible for the performance and attendance management of your clinical team within the service.
* Be responsible for promoting health and wellbeing of the clinical team within the service.
* Lead on any disciplinary and performance issues within the service in line with PHL policy.
* Ensure the IUC clinical team are always working within their clinical competence.
* Ensure that IUC staff members have an appraisal process in place that identifies training and development needs.
* Confidently take the lead on clinical management of the patient's journey when on shift, including clinical queue navigation.
* Provide support to the clinical leadership team, including step-up duties in the absence of the Clinical Manager, or Clinical Supervisor colleagues.
Person Specification
Experience
* At least 5 years post registration experience in healthcare. Experience of working within an autonomous role and in a multi-professional team/environment. Experience in a clinical management or supervisory role, coaching and mentoring others. Experience of managing effective clinical governance procedures and strategies. Incident and complaint investigation experiences. Experience of developing and maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Minimum of 3 years experience working in an urgent care setting, 111 or Clinical Assessment Service setting. Experience of coordinating risk management processes and reporting. Experience of using NHS pathways or other Clinical Decision Support Systems.
Qualifications
* Educated to degree level (or equivalent relevant experience) as a Registered Nurse or Paramedic with a current registration.
* Proactively maintain knowledge and training of current developments in clinical practice.
* Post registration relevant training, including (but not limited to) history taking and physical assessment, clinical decision making, or minor illness modules. Teaching/mentoring training or qualification (or equivalent experience). Leadership/management training or qualification (or equivalent experience). Independent non-medical prescribing qualification. Serious incident and/or root cause analysis training.
Skills and Knowledge
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, identifying the impact of contextual factors and able to adapt communication to the intended audience. Ability to produce concise, accurate and insightful communication and reports for dissemination to the clinical team and stakeholders. Ability to actively participate in, and lead, working groups across priority areas of responsibility. Strong team worker, motivating and encouraging collaborative working to improve services and performance. Excellent time management skills, with a dynamic and adaptable approach to organising conflicting priorities and sudden unexpected demands.
* Understanding of IUC and CAS functions, pathways and appropriate frameworks. Awareness of research and evidence-based practice relevant to clinical area.
