Post Details - The State Hospital is seeking to employ a part time non-study specific Research Assistant to provide support to the wide range of Research studies being undertaken within the hospital at any one time. The successful applicant will be expected to support study leads in all aspects of their study including:
* To provide a comprehensive package of study design, development and fieldwork support to Principle Investigators (PIs) as agreed through the Research Committee.
* The post holder may be required to support the wider study team or PI in addressing initial and continuing approval requirements for any proposed research study.
* To support data collection, collation, management and analysis; as required on a study specific basis. Data collection may take the form of collation of quantitative data from either existing sources or through the management of a data collection process. All data collection, collation and management will be underpinned by accuracy and attention to detail.
* To coordinate with a range of internal departments e.g. Records Services, Clinical Quality, HR, Risk Management to access study data. Research information may require to be extracted from paper and/or electronic health records.
* Supporting the study team in writing up study results, findings and recommendations for internal reporting, and wider external dissemination and publication.
* Ability to organise own work and allocation of time, and to work flexibly depending on the availability and clinical priorities of the research participants.
Experience - This post requires both knowledge and experience of working within a Research environment, understanding of research methodologies, and knowledge and experience of data collation, management and analysis. In addition to research experience it is important for candidates to have some experience of working within a secure forensic environment, and to demonstrate understanding of the specific considerations of working within a secure setting. Candidates will be required to demonstrate:
* Experience of working within a research environment
* Experience of work in a clinical forensic setting.
* Experience and competence in the collection, management and analysis of complex data.
* Understanding of research approval processes, and experience of applying for NHS Ethical and PBPP approvals.
