RPS are seeking a detail-oriented Engineering Assistant to support our team in conducting flow monitor surveys. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of hydrology and experience with data collection and analysis related to flow, velocity, and depth measurements.
What you’ll be doing
* Assist in the planning and execution of flow monitoring surveys in various field locations
* Collect and record data on water flow, velocity, and depth using specialized monitoring tools and software
* Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of monitoring devices to ensure optimal performance
* Analyse collected data to identify trends, anomalies, and compliance with regulatory standards
* Prepare detailed reports summarizing survey findings and data analysis for review by engineering staff
* Collaborate with engineers and environmental scientists in developing methodologies for flow assessments
* Support project management by maintaining accurate records of equipment usage, survey schedules, and data integrity
* Assist in the development and implementation of quality control procedures for data collection and analysis
Who we’re looking for?
* Familiarity with flow monitoring equipment and methodologies
* Proficient in data analysis software and tools (e.g., Excel, GIS)
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a field and office setting
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
* Knowledge of environmental regulations and standards related to water flow monitoring (preferred but not essential)
* Previous experience in field data collection or environmental assessments (preferred but not essential)
