The Engineering Technician I earns competitive pay of $14.61/hr. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN I
As an Engineering Technician I, you will create engineering plans, specifications, special purpose maps, and site maps, and exhibits for Open Records Requests. Your job is essential, and you will assist in revising the City's infrastructure maps (e.g., streets, utilities, traffic signals, and drainage) using AutoCAD and GIS software. You will prepare surveys and inspections, collect and correlate engineering data, and prepare reports, drawings, and calculations. You will also provide assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed.
Qualifications For an Engineering Technician I
1. Requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature which may be obtained with a two-year Associate's degree, diploma, or equivalent from a college, technical, business, vocational, or correspondence school.
2. Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
3. Requires one (1) year of experience in graphics, use of AutoCAD, GIS, and other software programs.
4. Preferred: Three (3) years of experience in graphics, use of AutoCAD, GIS, and other software programs.
5. Must have a current valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety with a satisfactory driving record.
6. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test administered by the City of Edinburg at the city's expense.
7. Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred.
