Devonport House is a residential life house accommodating 60 homeless individuals. We are seeking flexible, enthusiastic, and reliable people to join our bank of Relief Assistant Support Workers, who help support our existing team as and when required and providing cover for holidays and absence.
Our relief workers come from a variety of backgrounds - such as university students, parents, or carers with fixed commitments, those looking for experience in the social care sector, part time workers seeking occasional additional income; etc.
Whilst we are not able to guarantee any work, as a busy homeless hostel we are generally able to offer shifts out to all our relief workers on a regular basis.
Key Responsibilities:
A The role of Assistant Support Worker you will be responsible for assisting with
delivering a high-quality programme of support which promotes client choice and control. You will work to address client’s support needs, enabling them to make positive life choices and ultimately empower them to lead more sustainable lifestyles. You will use your initiative to complete day to day activities with the clients, administration and cleaning tasks as well as reception duties to support the successful operation of the service.
The successful candidate(s) will be able to demonstrate:
1. Motivation towards supporting vulnerable clients to achieve focussed and positive life outcomes.
2. Able to work within the Christian ethos of The Salvation Army.
3. Good customer service and time management skills with ability to prioritise workload.
