Job Title: Security Supervisor (Rotational Day and Night shifts)
Location: Shetland (Free Live in Accommodation and Travel Provided)
Salary: £16.50 per hour
Job Type: Full-Time, ongoing (3-week rotation)

The Shetland Spaceport is an exciting and dynamic site at the forefront of the UK's space exploration and technology.We are seeking a highly skilled and dependable Security Supervisor to oversee security operations at our clients cutting-edge facility. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, high-tech environment, ensuring the safety and security of personnel, assets, and the site.
Role Overview:
As a Security Supervisor, you will be responsible for supporting the Security Manager in managing day-to-day security operations at the Spaceport, overseeing a team of security officers, and ensuring that the site operates safely and securely at all times. You will work on a 3-week rotation, providing leadership and guidance to the security team and maintaining the highest levels of vigilance and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervision: Lead and manage a team of security officers, ensuring that security procedures are followed and the team remains motivated and efficient.
Patrolling & Surveillance: Oversee regular patrols of the site and monitor security systems to detect and respond to potential threats.
Access Control: Ensure proper management of entrance and exit points, including verification of personnel, vehicle checks, and issuing of passes.
Incident Management: In the absence of the Security Manager. take charge of responding to incidents, emergencies, and security breaches, liaising with local authorities and emergency services as necessary.
Training & Development: Provide training and support to security staff, ensuring they understand their duties and adhere to safety and security policies.
Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all security-related activities, incidents, and safety checks, providing detailed reports to management.
Health & Safety: Enforce health and safety protocols, ensuring that the security team follows best practices and that all security-related regulations are adhered to.
Liaison: Serve as the main point of contact for any security-related queries or concerns and work closely with other departments to ensure smooth operational flow.
Problem Solving: Resolve conflicts and issues effectively, using de-escalation techniques and ensuring compliance with security policies.
Person Specification (Skills & Behaviours):
SIA License: Must hold a valid SIA Security Supervisor License (essential)
Driving License: A full clean UK driving license is required (essential)
Leadership: Proven experience in supervising and leading teams, with excellent team management skills.
Security Experience: Strong background in security operations, preferably in a high-risk environment.
Attention to Detail: Ability to notice and report any discrepancies or potential security risks.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels.
Problem-Solving: Ability to stay calm under pressure and respond efficiently to security incidents and emergencies.
Resilience: High degree of resilience and the ability to manage stress in a dynamic environment.
Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-changing environment and flexible with tasks and priorities.
Health & Safety Knowledge: Good understanding of health and safety protocols and the ability to enforce them.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
This position would suit someone educated to Level 6 - Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework or QNUK-L3-Award-Enhanced-Security-Officers-G4S-RQF-Final.pdf
Must have a current SIA essential
Full clean UK driving licence - essential
Good understanding of how to, and recent experience in, lead and motivate a small team - essential
Strong observation skills - essential
Ability to write reports - essential
Good time management essential
Accepts and follows H&S procedures and instructions - essential
Willingness to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays essential
Knowledge and experience of relevant security legislation and high-risk security operations, and an understanding of technical and integrated security systems highly desirable
Experience of working in a highly regulated sector is highly desirable
