Job summary This is a Junior Clinical Fellow in Trauma and Orthopaedics role. This role will be suitable for a person wishing to increase their previous experience within the Orthopaedic department and gain more experience at a Junior level. We are seeking a Junior Clinical Fellow, who will partake in the junior tier on-call Rota, currently at 1:10. This post is not formally approved for training but provides excellent opportunities for progression and would also provide a study leave budget for attendance at national trauma courses and conferences. You will work with a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic elective trauma surgeon and required to work across both Royal Preston Hospital and Chorley South Ribble District General Hospitals. The post is fixed term for 4 months. The successful candidate would be available to commence in post ASAP, but a suitable start date could be arranged with the successful applicant. Salary will be pro rata based on the 4 months cover. Main duties of the job This post will provide both elective and trauma experience in a major trauma centre and would be suitable for a person wishing to obtain CT / ST1/2 level experience, or ST3. This post would be suitable for a pre ST3 post experience. Organise and perform the day-to-day pre and post-operative care of inpatients advised and guided by the Registrars and Consultants in the department. You will be expected to be on the ward during the normal working day except for natural breaks and when clinical duties elsewhere so demand Prepare for and attend the Registrar and Consultant ward rounds and carryout duties thus allocated. Examine and clerk all patients admitted to the wards. Maintain regular and comprehensive progress notes in the case records of patients. Provide cross-cover for other colleagues as required of the working The 'senior-most' Registrar is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the junior staff, the co-ordination of leave arrangements and the preparation of duty rota.
