Practice Based Pharmacy Technician – Closing date 14.11.24
37.5 hours per week up to BVP Band 6 (qualifications dependent)
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced GPhC Registered Pharmacy Technician to support the Practice in ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and efficient systems for repeat prescribing and optimisation of medicines management. In order to be successful in this role you will need to have excellent communication skills and good IT abilities as well as a sound knowledge of medicines management and medicines optimisation gained in either primary or secondary care settings.
The Technician will help us develop the practice for the future and maintain the quality of our practice and explore new horizons. We are located in a beautiful part of North Dorset with excellent links both road and rail with London. There are fantastic local schools both state and private. The coast is within easy reach for sailing, diving and outdoor pursuits.

Post Title: Practice Pharmacy Technician

JOB SUMMARY
To support the Practice Pharmacist to ensure the delivery of safe, effective and efficient systems for repeat prescribing, medicines optimisation, reducing medicines waste and maximising patient outcomes.
Job Responsibilities
* Support, train and oversee the administrative staff involved in the preparation of repeat prescriptions and participate in the daily preparation of repeat prescriptions.
* Assist the administration staff with medicines reconciliation in accordance with practice protocols.
* Support the achievement of the practice’s prescribing Quality and Outcomes Framework targets.
* Contribute to the review and development of repeat prescribing protocols / Standard Operating Procedures.
* Provide advice to GPs, staff and patients on changes to prescribing.
* Participate in medication audits.
* Assist in the appropriate monitoring and management of prescribing budgets.
* Prepare evidence-based resources and information to support rational cost-effective prescribing.
* Support the Practice Based Pharmacist to provide medication reviews.
* Take a proactive approach to the safe handling of prescriptions.
* Respond to medication queries from patients and staff.
* Advise on the sourcing and safe management of medicines.
* Assist in the submission of claims for personally administered drugs.
* Control medicines stocks and advise on the safe handling of controlled drugs.
* Help plan, develop and support the introduction of new working processes.
Responsibility for Administration
* Take messages and pass on information as appropriate.
* Computer data entry and processing in accordance with practice procedures.
* Initiate contact with patients and other team members.
* Maintain a tidy and patient-focused practice environment.
* Any other duties commensurate with this position.
Staff Management
* Provide supervision, training and professional leadership to practice administrative staff.
Patient Services
* Provide medication review services to patients via clinics.
* Present at patient group meetings to give advice on appropriate use of medicines.
* Produce patient information leaflets and run medicine awareness projects.
* Assist Partners with monitoring and management of prescribing budgets.
Communication
* Communicate effectively with team members, patients, and carers.
* Recognize needs for alternative methods of communication.
Confidentiality
Respect patient confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.

Implement and lead on health and safety and infection control as defined in practice policies.
