It sits within the Suffolk and Norfolk Local Visitor Economy Partnership (LVEP).
Destination management organisations (DMOs) are organisations charged with representing a specific destination and helping the long-term development of the local tourism economy through targeted and strategic campaigns. Visit North Norfolk is the accredited authoritative DMO for north Norfolk. Income generated through the DMO goes back into the company to deliver marketing campaigns.
Visit North Norfolk supports two key aspects of the local tourism industry:
1. The promotion and marketing of north Norfolk to consumers, raising the profile of north Norfolk as a year-round holiday destination.
2. Support for businesses: representing businesses on the VNN website and providing marketing opportunities to help them achieve a higher profile than they would alone. Providing business support in the form of updates, industry insights, free workshops and media editorial opportunities.
The Membership and Marketing Manager role will oversee and develop the business offering and support, in order to demonstrate the value of Visit North Norfolk membership to existing and potential members. The role will also involve developing income streams through advertising, sponsorship opportunities, new technology (eg apps) and developing services that members can buy (eg marketing, customer research, training) that not only benefit members, but provide margin for income.
Visit North Norfolk is a not-for-profit organisation and whilst there is local authority core-funding, income generation is key for the maintenance and long-term growth of the DMO. Therefore, the Membership and Marketing Manager role will be to drive membership recruitment and retention, campaign sponsorships and advertising revenue.
Purpose of the Membership and Marketing Manager Role:
To maintain the existing membership base and build the membership portfolio by marketing Visit North Norfolk to businesses. Demonstrate value for money and benefits the DMO brings to businesses.
Manage the VNN business memberships and provide support through information sharing and advice. Provide ongoing business engagement through regular updates and networking events. Run free training workshops (provided by Trusted Partners), sell advertising, promotional opportunities and campaign sponsorships to further develop revenue streams for VNN. Enhance the business offering by providing a web page that includes relevant information.
Develop opportunities to sell / cross sell business membership to non-member businesses. Devise offers / incentives to encourage them to trial membership and attend business events that provide the opportunity to highlight VNN.
Devise and manage marketing opportunities that directly benefit businesses eg responding to TravMedia requests for editorial content and organise press trips. Create relevant content for the website / social media that represents the diverse range of businesses and support the Brand Director with social media and marketing campaigns. (Monitor social media platforms in the absence of the Brand Director).
VNN will at times work with its partner, North Norfolk District Council on additional projects (eg Invest North Norfolk) to provide additional funding for VNN and support for NNDC.
Main responsibilities:
1. Build and maintain relationships with north Norfolk members. Act as the principal point of contact for and responding to enquiries from members and potential members.
2. Sell membership to non and lapsed members.
3. Manage the onboarding process of new membership ensuring a smooth process.
4. Conduct member surveys and feedback sessions to gather insights and improve member experience.
