Job Description teach195. are working with a secondary school in Didsbury seeking an experienced and reliable individual to join their team as a Caretaker. As a caretaker you will be instrumental in keeping the school facilities running smoothly, making sure they’re safe and inviting for everyone- students, staff and visitors alike. This role is all about taking care of the school premises, from maintenance tasks to ensuring everything is in top condition. Key Responsibilities: Maintenance and Repairs: Perform routine maintenance tasks such as plumbing, carpentry, painting, and electrical repairs to ensure that school buildings and facilities are in good working order. Cleaning: Undertake cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and sanitising surfaces to maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the school premises. Security and Safety: Monitor security systems, lock and unlock doors, and conduct regular inspections to ensure the safety and security of the school buildings and grounds. Groundskeeping: Maintain outdoor areas including playgrounds, sports fields, and landscaping to ensure they are safe, tidy, and well-presented Health and Safety Compliance: Implement health and safety procedures, conduct risk assessments, and report any hazards or maintenance issues promptly to relevant authorities. Assistance with Events: Provide support for school events, such as setting up and dismantling equipment, arranging furniture, and ensuring facilities are prepared for activities. Communication: Liaise with school staff, contractors, and external agencies to coordinate maintenance works, report issues, and ensure effective communication regarding facilities management. Requirements: Prior experience in a similar caretaking or facilities management role is desirable. Strong practical skills with the ability to undertake basic maintenance and repairs. Knowledge of health and safety regulations and procedures. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team. Flexibility to respond to emergencies and work outside regular hours if required. A proactive and responsible attitude towards ensuring the safety and well-being of students and staff.
