The Opportunity
We’re growing! Recognising the value that environmental health officers can bring to our communities, we’ve created two new posts. We’re now looking for an EHO for our brilliant Food and Health & Safety Team. The team includes EHOs, a Food Safety Officer, an Apprentice EHO and a Food Safety Support Officer and they’re on track to meet their inspection targets in 2025-26. But it’s not all about food inspections. The team perform our role as enforcing authority for health & safety, lead on regulating special treatments, deal with cases of infectious disease, manage our primary authority arrangements, respond to complaints, and provide support to some of the biggest events to take place in the region.
We’re looking for an EHO who is competent and experienced in delivering these functions. We also want someone with a flair for thinking outside the box, comfortable using novel tactics, and understands how exploiting opportunities through the media can raise standards and protect the public.
Key Skills and Experience
We are looking for someone with:
* A CIEH accredited BSc(Hons), MSc or diploma in environmental health.
* Registration as an EHO with the CIEH or EHRB.
* Food law code of practice competency.
