About the role
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Indirect Tax to lead on the Group’s approach to Indirect Taxes. The successful candidate will be a proven leader, responsible for overseeing all aspects of indirect tax, including compliance, strategy, planning and advisory services on a global scale. This role requires a deep understanding of international Indirect Tax laws and regulations, as well as the ability to manage complex projects and lead a high performing team and diverse stakeholder group.
Scope of Indirect Taxes within Reckitt include not only VAT and customs duties, but also emerging green/ESG taxes such as plastic Packaging Tax, EPR & CBAM.
This role reports to the Group Tax Director who in turn reports to the SVP Global Head of Tax.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead on global Indirect Tax matters, managing a small central team of SME experts and work cross-discipline with other senior stakeholders in the wider Reckitt Group who are involved in activities that have an indirect tax impact.
* Provide proactive business partnering with local businesses & central functions and manage relationships with Tax and Customs Agencies, external providers and other relevant external bodies.
* Play a critical role in delivering change without any unforeseen indirect tax consequences.
* Collaboratively work with peers, stakeholders, colleagues and external service providers to increase the value protection and value creation for the wider Group.
* Have a proven track record of working in a comparable role for another complex multinational organisation with expert knowledge of Indirect Taxes.
* Possess a transformation and technology mindset.
Responsibilities
* Ensure appropriate Indirect Tax governance framework is in place and operating effectively.
* Monitor legislative developments, assessing the impact on the business, and ensure applicable changes are shared and implemented on a timely and accurate basis.
* Work with internal stakeholders and external advisors to ensure effective and timely management of indirect tax matters as part of the Group’s external audit.
* Manage indirect tax audits and disputes, including developing a strategy to manage/mitigate as far as possible, and liaise with tax authorities globally as required.
* Monitor changes in legislation and case law related to indirect taxes, assessing the impact on the business and advising on necessary actions.
* Lead, mentor, and develop the global indirect tax team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
* Support the SVP Global Head of Tax in tax risk management and reporting to the board and audit committee.
The experience we're looking for
Relevant professional qualification - Essential.
At least ten years’ experience, with a strong background in leading on international tax matters in a large multinational public company – Essential.
Proven leadership skills with experience managing a diverse and geographically dispersed team and stakeholder group.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong analytical and problem solving mindset, with meticulous attention to detail.
Tax IT literate and technology focused - Essential.
Experience of setting and delivering a global transaction taxes strategy in a large, complex organisation, managing budgets, driving quantifiable value - Essential.
