Amazon Web Services (AWS) is growing rapidly, and we are looking for trainee technicians to join our Data Center team as part of our Work-Based Learning Program (WBLP). These trainees will participate in our 12-week work and training program in an AWS Data Center, working with the Engineering Operations Team.
Location: Hemel Hempstead, UK
Trainees will work to ensure that the data center's mechanical, electrical, fire/life safety equipment and plumbing operates at 100% availability while maintaining first-class customer service to the teams and groups within the data centers.

Key job responsibilities
• Assist in the operation and maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment within the Data Center/Facility
• Provide assistance to contractor or data center engineers to ensure proper operation, maintenance of all facility equipment and building racks
• Perform site walkthrough to verify proper operation of Facility Equipment and Monitoring System
• Ensure overall availability and reliability for our customers within our Data Centers
• Install new rack equipment
• Decommission existing racks
• Assist root cause analysis of equipment failures
• Assist in troubleshooting of facility and rack-level events within internal SLA.
• Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to while performing work.
In addition, all candidates should be willing to work both independently and with a team. Work prioritization, organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to react quickly are critical to being successful.
Physical Requirements:
• Walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch. Work at heights and from ladders
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds unassisted; and participate in group lifts for 36 pounds or more
• Daily travel between sites may be required

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or equivalent education
• 18 years or older
• Experience with Microsoft Office
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Has taken or is interested in STEM or vocational course curriculum related to electrical or mechanical field
• Knowledge of generic mechanical-room infrastructure such as chillers, Cooler Units, and fan controls
• Knowledge of electrical equipment such as switchgear, transformers and power distribution panels.
