Senior Manager - Economic Crime Prevention
Locations: Edinburgh / Birmingham / London
Hours: Full-Time
Working Pattern: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.
Job Description Summary:
Economic Crime poses a threat to the safety and security of the Group, our customers, and our communities. We play a key part as one of the largest financial services providers in identifying and preventing Economic Crime (EC).
Against a backdrop of a changing threat environment, we must evolve our prevention, detection, and response to ensure that we're responding to the risks of today and the evolution of the threat of tomorrow.
We're the Economic Crime Prevention (ECP) team with responsibility for managing EC risk (fraud, money laundering, bribery, sanctions) across our business banking, commercial, and corporate businesses.
Between them, they have more than 1 million clients from sole traders through to global corporate firms. We've an important part to play to help our business achieve their growth aspirations in a safe and sustainable way.
Core Purpose: This is an opportunity to lead a team of risk specialists responsible for assessing and investigating high-risk factors and deciding whether to maintain or onboard clients. This will include a level of enhanced due diligence as appropriate. You'll work with 2 other Senior Managers covering our risk specialisms, including: Sanctions, Politically Exposed Persons, Fraud, Adverse Media, Anti Money Laundering due diligence on high-risk clients; Correspondent Banking due diligence; and in-depth investigations triggered by suspicious client activity.
We're highly collaborative and help all colleagues to become rounded risk professionals by developing a broad range of skills. You'll be helping colleagues in their development. As a subject matter expert, you'll keep abreast of industry developments and regulation, sharing information across appropriate teams.
We encourage innovation, to focus on risks and streamline wasteful processes. You'll lead in delivering continuous improvement activities to ensure the team keeps abreast of regulatory changes and horizon risks, as well as eliminating non-value adding tasks or processes.
What You’ll Need:
Do you have demonstrable experience leading teams and the ability to work effectively with partners across a variety of business functions?
* Strong experience and technical knowledge in an ECP role.
* Proven ability to manage teams.
* Track record in coordinating work in order to achieve expectations and follow established timelines.
* Partner management skills, to lead important client relationships with guidance from senior colleagues.
* Knowledge of, or a passion to learn about, additional ECP risk areas.
And Any Experience Of These Would Be Really Useful:
* Coaching skills and track record of personal development.
* Experience in the design and implementation of a compliance programme while ensuring adherence to regulatory and compliance standards.
* Ability to identify shortcomings, then suggest and implement improvements to existing business practices.
