Our goal is to enable the analysis of any living thing, by anyone, anywhere We are looking for a highly motivated Associate Director of Global Events to join the Marketing Operations team at Oxford Nanopore Technologies. The AD, Global Events, will lead our exceptional events team across all regions (EMEAI, APAC and AMR), and be responsible for the strategic overview, execution, and budgeting of Oxford Nanopore’s global event programme. Working with the VP Marketing Operations, you will personally be responsible for the coordination of Oxford Nanopore’s flagship event, London Calling. The Details… Duties include, but are not limited to: Event vision, planning & coordination: Driving a comprehensive event strategy that aligns with Oxford Nanopore's commercial goals. Planning and driving our year-round global conference schedule; identifying and driving objectives and targets. Setting, communicating and maintaining timelines and priorities on multiple projects. Supervising event set-up and Oxford Nanopore’s presence onsite at events. Creative mindset, both from a solutions perspective and also through maintaining Oxford Nanopore’s brand and tone across all aspects of events, including, but not limited to, booth design, merchandise, collateral, promotional materials. Supporting Oxford Nanopore’s Sales team with sales events through tools, process implementation and other such support as required. Marketing and promotion: Developing and cascading external communications to promote company events and conference attendance. Assisting with internal communications. Budget Management: Collaborating with internal collaborators to define event budgets, timelines and deliverables. Oversee the global events' budget, ensuring that spending is in line with forecasts. Evaluation and reporting: Analysing event data and metrics, such as attendance, lead generation, and conversion rates, to assess return on investment and make data-driven recommendations. Continuously improve the Event team’s processes and best practices based on feedback and lessons learned. Team management: Management and development of the events team, providing guidance on project management and execution. Oversee the performance of the team to ensure targets are met and development goals achieved. Responsible for their day-to-day management/HR/pastoral care/career progression. Cultivate a collaborative team environment to encourage innovation and efficiency. Stakeholder engagement: Working closely with external stakeholders to negotiate contracts, ensure the smooth planning and execution of all events; and to maintain strong relationships. Working closely with the wider Marketing, Sales, Product Management and R&D teams to create an events program that best addresses the needs of each market and reach our sales target Build and maintain relationships with sponsors, partners, and participants. Any other duties, as might be required within the remit and responsibilities of the post. What We're Looking For… We're looking for someone with several years' experience in event management and leading a team. We'll expect you to have a consistent record in coordinating logistics or events in your current role and a proven track record of working proficiently with external contractors and internal partners, as this is key to ensuring that Oxford Nanopore’s presence is both strong and innovative. You'll be able to demonstrate excellent organisational and communication skills with the ability to problem solve, work independently and have a good eye for detail. You will have previous experience in both brand management and design. The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience - ideally, you'll hold a relevant degree in either Life Sciences, Business or Marketing with knowledge of the life sciences sector. This role will suit someone who works well under pressure in a fast-paced environment and who can work proactively with multi-disciplinary teams across the business to achieve conference goals.
