Working Hours: Part time, 1 Day per week 5 hours
Salary: £34,944 Pro Rata - £16.80 Per Hour
Here at Serco we have an exciting opportunity for a Sikh Religious Visitor to join our Chaplaincy Team at Gatwick Immigration Removal Centre (IRC) The post holder will work across both our sites on a Part time basis. It is essential that they can work independently and in a team.
Under the Gatwick IRC (Immigration Removal Centre) contract, we manage and operate both the Brook House and Tinsley House IRC (Immigration Removal Centre), as well as providing Pre-Departure Accommodation services.
You must be part of a vibrant Chaplaincy team, contribute, in such a way, as to provide a person-centred care approach, promoting a sense of hope and direction to residents and staff.
Your Main Responsibilities:
As the Religious Visitor you will provide pastoral care and seek to ensure spiritual welfare of residents and staff. You will also provide faith advice within the establishment and be responsible for supporting the establishment in ensuring faith groups observe their religious holy days and festivals.
You will acquire and distribute appropriate religious literature, supplies, and materials, this can be provided on site. You will have the flexibility to prepare for your group sessions from home or on site with support from our Chaplain Team Group.
You will be expected to attend and provide meaningful input into chaplaincy specific meetings and forums.
work closely with Security and Safer Custody to ensure issues such as Suicide and Self-Harm and Violence Reduction are delivered in line with the DSO’s.
To contribute to multi-disciplinary meetings including but not limited to Safer Custody, Security and Wing forum.
To ensure that chaplaincy facilities and equipment are maintained to the required standard.
As Part Of This You Will Have:
This is an opportunity for a Religious Visitor (Sikh) who has the appropriate experience in the delivery of religious services of Sikh faith, ideally in a custodial environment.
The successful candidate must be Innovative and forward thinking.
You should also have a proven high-level of professionalism and competence in congregational service delivery to bring to the role.
You will of course need to demonstrate that they have proven experience and skills in pastoral and spiritual leadership.
The successful postholder must meet the specified minimum faith eligibility requirement.
