How you'll make a difference As a Lead DevOps Engineer, you'll bridge our platform capabilities and feature teams, representing a new model for our organisation. Working aligned to one of our Value Streams, reporting to the Platform Engineering DevOps chapter, you'll be embedded within Feature Teams, bringing technical expertise directly to where software is created. Without line management responsibilities, you'll proactively lead and empower engineers to step beyond traditional role boundaries, championing a DevOps mindset and enabling teams to own their delivery pipeline end-to-end. As a vocal self-starter, you'll help teams effectively leverage our platform while creating pragmatic solutions where gaps exist. You'll establish vital feedback loops that evolve our platform based on real-world usage, translate complex technical capabilities into practical workflows, and advocate for developer experience improvements. Your unique position allows you to identify patterns across teams that could become standardised platform capabilities, ultimately accelerating delivery while maintaining engineering excellence in our banking technology transformation. What you'll bring Bridge-building expertise to connect platform capabilities with team needs, creating mutual understanding across organisational boundaries (experience with CI/CD platforms like GitHub Actions or equivalent). Comprehensive understanding of the software delivery lifecycle from development to production, with ability to implement appropriate security and quality controls at each stage (familiarity with DevSecOps tools like Veracode, Laceworks or similar). Proven ability to create targeted solutions that fill capability gaps while avoiding duplication and reducing team cognitive load (scripting languages like Python, Bash or equivalent). Strong cloud platform engineering skills with focus on automation, container technologies and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Pulumi, Kubernetes, AWS). Proactive leadership with ability to vocally champion DevOps culture, empowering developers to take ownership while translating complex technical capabilities into practical workflows (Mentoring, Technical Leadership, Cultural Change). Version control mastery and CI/CD pipeline expertise with ability to design efficient delivery workflows regardless of underlying tooling (Git workflows, GitHub Actions, Jenkins). Aptitude for establishing observability that provides meaningful insights to enable teams to effectively monitor and troubleshoot their applications (experience with monitoring solutions). Commitment to "everything as code" principles with no click-ops, and experience implementing GitOps for continuous delivery (ArgoCD, Flux or equivalent methodologies). What we offer in return Hybrid and flexible working arrangements to support a healthy work/life balance. An attractive reward and myTSB benefits package, giving you more of what matters to you.
