About Us:
Camphill Milton Keynes Communities is a charity that provides unique person-centred support, based on a modern view of the Camphill movement, for adults with learning disabilities and autistic spectrum conditions, as well as for a number of people living in the Milton Keynes area who have a learning disability.
About the Role:
Purpose:
* To work in conjunction with the House coordinator(s)/Care Managers to ensure that an adequate level of support is provided to residents and staff living and working in their house.
* The support of Residents with their general welfare, housing-related tasks and pursuing their social and educational activities.
* Ensure that Residents have a detailed Person Centred Plan to include agreed goals and action plans that assist them in achieving outcomes and maintaining independent life skills.
* To encourage and support the values of Camphill Milton Keynes Communities.
* To act as key worker for a group of Residents.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure, together with colleagues, that service users experience a safe, healthy and purposeful environment in accordance with CMKC policies and procedures and statutory requirements.
* Provide support and guidance for the residents in the house in accordance with their personal needs as set out in Support & Life Plans, risk assessments and other guidance.
* To be responsible for the prompt and accurate recording of all relevant records including Support and Outcome Planning and Risk Assessments in accordance with CMKC’s Policies and Procedures.
* To support people in making their own decisions and informed choices and to assist them in promoting and maintaining their independence.
* To ensure information communicated to people is accessible to them.
* To support Residents to manage their own finances, budgeting and dealing with statutory bodies and services.
* To support Residents to access a range of leisure activities and other services.
* To support Residents to manage their personal care and health needs.
* To assist Residents to sustain and maintain their tenancies e.g. help to understand their tenancy rights and responsibilities, to gain access to furnishings, to budget, set up utility supplies, etc.
* To work with Residents to ensure planning of healthy diet choice and support with meal preparation and cooking.
* To support Residents with attending meetings and appointments if required.
* Provide emotional support and appropriate intervention for distressed or challenging Residents.
* Monitor the health of people and ensure the safe handling of any medicines.
* To undertake and contribute towards the effective recording, reporting, monitoring and evaluation of your work and routinely maintain Residents’ and service documentation.
* Carry out Health & Safety checks as set out in the manual and report hazards, risks and accidents.
* Along with residents and staff, order / purchase food and household supplies and manage expenditure according to budgets.
* Support people to maintain regular contacts with their own families and/or other significant individuals according to the person’s wishes.
* To liaise with other agencies as required to maximise opportunities for Residents’ therapeutic care, i.e. regarding residents’ annual reviews.
* Report any Safeguarding enquiries to the CMKC or Local Authority Safeguarding team.
* Ensure service users are aware of CMKC’s safeguarding adults’ procedures, comments and complaints procedures and document any incidents, accidents or complaints accordingly.
* Implement actions to meet and maintain care standards.
* To supervise, support and guide allocated staff on an ongoing basis as required.
* Cooperate with the implementation, evaluation, orientation and induction of all new staff and volunteers in the house where agreed.
* Contribute to the development of rotas within your area of responsibility to comply with statutory requirements and the satisfaction of ongoing Residents’ needs.
* To manage the service/house and a team of staff in the absence of the House Co-ordinator.
* Support any CMKC-based activities, i.e. attending the Community meetings and events and contributing to the development and running of projects.
Staff training and personal development:
* Participate in supervision and staff appraisal.
* Attend staff meetings, represent the service/house at team meetings, and work with the senior management team when required.
* Participate in ongoing in-house and external professional and personal development activities.
General:
* Flexible approach to work as you will be required to work a rota, which includes some evenings, weekends, bank holidays, sleep-ins, and working across the service/community.
* Build a professional working relationship with residents, colleagues and relevant professionals.
* Represent CMKC in a positive and professional manner.
* Maintain appropriate confidentiality at all times.
* Adhere to all CMKC policy and procedure.
* Comply with CMKC and Adult Social Care Workers Code of Conduct.
* Attend internal and external meetings, as required.
* To provide cover in other CMKC houses as required.
* To participate in trainings, meetings, personal development.
* To work in accordance with CMKC mission and vision statement and values.
* Undertake any other ad hoc and reasonable duties that may be required from time to time.
