Freelance Volunteer and Events Coordinator
Deadline: 07 April 2025 at 23:55
Eco Drama is looking for a creative, resourceful, and approachable coordinator ready to make a positive impact in Pollok, from May 2025 – March 2026.
Eco Drama seeks an enthusiastic Volunteer & Community Events Coordinator to nurture the Pollok Grows Together Project. You'll be responsible for volunteer coordination, outreach, and event planning, ensuring the orchard thrives as a community resource. Pollok Grows Together is a greenspace development initiative that integrates community engagement in the arts with locally-led environmental action, centring around a new community orchard planted with the Pollok community in November 2024.
Contract: May 2025 – March 2026 (potential extension to November 2026 pending funding).
Commitment: 45 working days over 11 months (approx. 28.5 days planning, 10.5 days outreach, 6 days evaluation) with flexibility (1.5 to 7.5 days/month depending on project needs).
Fee: £140 per day with up to £5 travel contribution per day.
What You’ll Do
1. Volunteer Coordination & Recruitment:
- Plan & host bi-monthly volunteer meetings at Pollok Community Centre and the Orchard, including agenda preparation, minute-taking, and arranging refreshments.
- Act as the main point of contact for current and prospective volunteers, using social media, community pages, and platforms like Volunteer Glasgow and Creative Scotland to recruit new members.
- Maintain volunteer records and track engagement while ensuring GDPR compliance.
- Work closely with the volunteer group to develop long-term maintenance, skill-building, and environmental enhancement plans for the orchard.
2. Community Events & Outreach:
- Design & deliver engaging events within budget, collaborating with local artists, contractors, and the volunteer group to create activities such as creative workshops, apple tasting, and arts & crafts.
- Attend local community groups & events to build partnerships and raise awareness, tailoring outreach to diverse groups including schools, parenting groups, and support organisations.
- Participate in monthly team check-ins, with planning, evaluation, and administrative work done flexibly from home or at our Eco Drama office at The Briggait.
