We are looking to appoint a Band 6 Senior Employee Relations Advisor to an exciting role in this busy, specialist ER team at a major London hospital. The Trust, People Directorate, and ER team are transforming the way in which they operate to provide a first-class service to our patients and service users.
The post holder will need to work autonomously with minimum supervision and using their initiative to successfully deliver their work to an excellent standard. The post holder will also line manage a Band 5 Employee Relations Advisor.
The following experience, skills, and abilities are required for this important role:
* CIPD Level 5 membership
* Excellent working knowledge of Employment Law and HR best practice
* Good working knowledge of WRES/WDES, Just Culture principles
* Subject matter expert on employee relations best practice models
* A keen interest and previous experience in HR policy writing and development
* Experience of working in partnership in a unionised environment and building relationships with Staff Side representatives
* Ability to persuade others of point of view where there may be barriers and construct a convincing case
* Self-motivated and able to deliver at pace
* Excellent attention to detail
* Able to display and use initiative and results-oriented
Current CIPD membership and HR experience is essential.
Main Duties of the Job
The postholder will be responsible to the ER Manager and Head of Employee Relations for the provision of a professional high quality, comprehensive HR service to specific divisions / corporate functions.
Key areas of activity will include:
* Assisting, advising, and supporting managers in relation to all employee relations issues, including advising and supporting managers with employee relations, terms and conditions of employment, and Trust policies and procedures.
* Coaching, encouraging, and challenging managers and staff to explore early informal resolution to cases.
* Responsible for accurate, timely, and comprehensive entry of data into various systems and spreadsheets to enable reporting.
* Accountable for their performance and their area’s performance.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities
Employee Relations
To advise and support managers in the interpretation and application of the Trust’s disciplinary, Early Resolution, capability, sickness, etc. procedures and to ensure that these procedures are adhered to.
To advise and support managers in addressing all aspects of staff attendance issues and Occupational Health referrals working closely with the Occupational Health Department.
To prepare for and attend regular Triage meetings to discuss formal ER cases.
Job Matching
Job match and evaluate job descriptions in accordance with the Agenda for Change job matching process and regulations.
Accurately and promptly record the details of job matching.
Selenity (ER Tracker), the Electronic Staff Record (ESR) & Internal Spreadsheets
To enter ER data accurately and timely onto the Selenity (ER Tracker) system, ESR, and internal spreadsheets.
To produce reports from the above systems and to be held accountable for the reports and any trends displayed.

Education/Qualifications/Training
* Degree level education or equivalent experience
* CIPD Associate Membership (Level 5)
* Committed to continuous professional development
Knowledge
* Up to date knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and best practice in employment e.g., employment legislation, data protection, and freedom of information
* Understanding and knowledge of applying Agenda for Change terms and conditions of employment
Experience
* Experience of working at an advisor level in a unionised organisation with a large and diverse workforce providing professional advice to managers
* Experience of policy development and implementation
Skills and Competencies
* Proven ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with all grades of staff both verbally and in writing
