Join an established manufacturing business in East Lancashire who have a close-knit team, manufacturing for international markets, working on-site at their offices in Colne.
Your new role
As a Financial Controller, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the accounting system and financial reports for the Lancashire site. You will lead the finance team at the site, overseeing general accounting, business analysis, and financial reporting. You will report to the Managing Director and be involved in all financial and accounting activities, with your main duties including overseeing all company accounts, creating quarterly, monthly, and annual reports to identify results, trends, and financial forecasts. As the manager of the finance team, you'll provide motivation and feedback, suggest updates and improvements to accounting systems, and ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported. Additionally, you will maintain compliance with government financial regulations, collaborate with auditing services, manage tax provisions and returns, and develop budgets and financial plans, providing timely and accurate analysis.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have experience in a similar senior finance role in a manufacturing environment, with either a professional accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA), or Qualified by Experience (QBE). Management experience is essential, as well as an understanding of UK GAAP, with IFRS desirable, and cost accounting. You should possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills, reliability, excellent written and verbal communication skills, organisational skills, attention to detail, plus critical and analytical thinking.
