An exciting opportunity has arisen to joinour Podiatry team as a Band 6 Podiatrist working withinan organisation that has been recognised and accredited with Teaching statusand an Investors in People award. This role will be a community-based position, working out of GP surgeries and visiting patient's homes when required.
We are looking for dynamic, passionate and committedPodiatrists' with demonstrable post-registration experience, includingtreatment of the at risk foot. Thepost holder will be an enthusiastic and conscientious team worker who is ableto prioritise their workload. They will haveexcellent communication and interpersonal skills and will be required toprovide a range of high quality podiatric interventions in a variety ofcommunity clinical, GP and domicillary settings throughout the Wakefielddistrict delivering high quality patient centred care. The post holder will be required to liaisewith other health professionals and be able to use their own initiative togetherwith the ability to respond in a professional manner towards patients,relatives and staff at all levels.

Main duties of the job
Working as part of the Podiatry team you will develop and implement clinically effective Podiatry interventions to the population covered by Podiatry. The post holder is required to act as an autonomous practitioner using their clinical expertise, decision making and problem solving skills to provide a high quality service.
The post holder will have individual responsibility in a range of care settings for a patient caseload, complex needs using appropriate assessment techniques and equipment to assess, plan, implement and evaluate podiatry interventions. This will be delivered to a range of high risk patients including those with diabetes, vascular disease, chronic neuropathy, chronic disease, rheumatoid arthritis, terminally ill patients and other complex medical health care needs in accordance with professional/Trust policies and guidelines.

Job description
Job responsibilities
1. To work single handed, or as part of the primary healthcare team,liaising with podiatrists / other healthcare professionals / organisationsusing a variety of communication mediums to ensure all appropriate agencies areaware of assessment, treatment / advice offered to patients as and whenappropriate, to maximise treatment outcomes for patients ( secondaryreferral to consultants in secondary care / x-ray investigations, surgical appliancedepartment, podiatry assistant) and raise the profile of the service / profession;
2. To provide accurate and timely information aroundpatient activity on a daily basis for system 1 to support the podiatryappointments office and performance management requirements of the service;
3. To contribute to andparticipate in service developments development of policies, standards,service planning process to ensure excellent service provision;
4. Responsible for themaintenance of timely, accurate, comprehensive patient notes which reflect theinterventions delivered. Ensuring that they are in accordance with National /Trust / Departmental guidelines for best practice in defensible recordsmanagement;
5. Where identified, toprovide flexible clinical cover for colleagues in primary care as and whenrequired to maintain service delivery.Use specialised knowledge gained through experience and post graduatequalifications to provide flexible clinical cover as requested by PodiatryManagement. Ensuring that skills aremaintained by ongoing education and clinical rotations;
6. Using recommendationsfor best clinical practice, assist the service in the modernisation and auditof effective clinical services for patients;
7. To have individualresponsibility in a range of care settings for a patient caseload, complexneeds using appropriate assessment techniques and equipment to assess, plan,implement and evaluate podiatry interventions.This will be delivered to a range of high risk patients including thosewith diabetes, vascular disease, chronic neuropathy, chronic disease, rheumatoid arthritis, terminally ill patients and other complex medical healthcare needs in accordance with professional / Trust policies and guidelines;
8. Provide clinicalleadership and flexible clinical cover for colleagues in primary care managinga range of foot disorders using a variety of mediums including: participationin the placements of students / other healthcare professionals, professionalsupport of Band 5 Podiatrists / undergraduate Podiatrists and trainee Podiatry assistants who deliver care in post holdersclinic area;
9. Ensure that theoptimum outcome is achieved for individual patients through the maintenance andfurther development of specialised clinical skills / knowledge to support themanagement of a range of foot problems commensurate with local protocols,national guidance, and local development needs whilst using a wide range ofPodiatric interventions knowledge and manufacture of and appropriate useof orthotics, footwear advice, health education advice / patient empowerment,scalpel debridement, minor surgical techniques nail surgery.
10. To demonstrateeffective time management skills in the day to day management of a patientcaseload by ensuring sufficient driving and travel time to arrive atclinics/homes by the agreed appointment time to deliver clinical packages ofcare to patients.
