Job summary We are excited to announce an exciting opportunity for an experienced learning disability nurse to join Forensic CAMHS North West (FCAMHS NW).We are a regional community mental health service that provides consultation to professionals across the North West of England who support young people who display high-risk behaviour that poses a risk to others and may lead to their contact with the criminal justice system or admission to a secure setting. Recent investment in the service has enabled us to develop a learning disability and autism pathway within the serviceand increase the expertise within the team through the recruitment of a learning disability nurse andthe development of a neurodevelopmental pathway. The successful applicant will join a well-established and static team of senior mental health practitioners who support professionals from various services, including mental health, youth justice, social care, education, and others. Opportunities in FCAMHS rarely come up, so this is definitely not one to miss. Main duties of the job The post holderwill be required to lead expert forensic consultation meetings on videoconferencing software or in person at the agency's locality base, providing advice and recommendations for the treatment of underlying mental health/LD difficulties, the management of high-risk behaviour, and interventions to reduce the likelihood of recidivism. The post holder will undertake specialist forensic assessments meeting with the young person, family, and carers, formulating the young person's difficulties and risks, and providing external agencies with a comprehensive assessment report. The post holder will engage with external stakeholders, providing information about the service and bespoke training packages that upskill community agencies in managing high-risk behaviour and assessing young people who display high-risk behaviour in the context of Neurodivergence and Learning Disabilities/Difficulties. The post holder will provide support, training, and supervision to junior colleagues across the GMMH CAMHS division, helping them care for high-risk young people.
