As a tutor, you will deliver tuition sessions to help students gain confidence and meet qualification requirements, potentially enabling them to return to further education. Unlike other agencies, 1st Staff provides a support network including lead tutors, safeguarding leads, curriculum leads for Maths and English, behavioral specialists, and a Head of Education.
We are seeking passionate, patient, and creative Teachers, Tutors, TAs, or LSAs with experience in supporting learners to overcome barriers. Multiple positions are available for those enthusiastic about providing 1:1 tutoring to young people with diverse learning needs. Our approach is creative, flexible, holistic, and trauma-informed, focused on raising engagement and improving educational outcomes.

The Role:
The role involves delivering 1:1 sessions to young people unable to attend mainstream education. The ideal candidate will have a caring and friendly nature to build rapport. Responsibilities include providing Maths, English, or Science tuition to students with SEND, SEMH, MLD/SLD, or other educational needs referred by local authorities and schools.
This role is ideal for those eager to work with young people through creative, flexible, trauma-informed tutoring to enhance engagement and educational prospects.
Position Details:
* Location: Child's home, local library, or community centre
* Hours: Part-time or full-time; typically 10-15 hours/week (2-3 hours/day). Full-time may involve up to 6 hours/day across multiple students.
* Start date: ASAP
* Subjects: English & Maths
* Completing lesson reports and providing feedback on student progress
Skills & Experience Required:
* Confidence working with SEN/SEMH and challenging behaviors
* Planning sessions tailored to individual needs
* Completing reports and feedback
* Supportive and nurturing demeanor with good behavior management
* Strong communication skills
* Ability to identify and help overcome learning barriers
* Adaptability to various classroom roles and environments
* Previous experience with children with SEND
* Positive attitude and rapport-building skills
