This post is based offshore on the ETAP on a 3/3 rotation
JOB TITLE: MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Ensure all work undertaken is safe, and in compliance and accordance with statutory Health and Safety procedures, maintenance manuals, specific work instructions, safe systems of work (Control of Work/Permit to Work) and all recommended safe working practices
2. Actively participate in thorough pre-job risk assessments for all non-routine activities and confirm that they are accurately reflected in the resultant Permit to Work
3. Actively participate in any pre-job site inspections/toolbox talks for maintenance activities
4. Participation in BOSS and carry out safety tours, as required
5. Ensure all required personal protective equipment (PPE) is appropriately used
6. Ensure all accidents, incidents, near misses and non-conformances are fully reported
7. Under direction, undertake routine inspection, servicing and adjustment of equipment
8. Review maintenance work orders and ensure all requirements/preparations are fully undertaken before commencement of works
9. Communicate with operations personnel for start-up and shutdown of mechanical rotating equipment
10. Undertake planned and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment, ensuring any work carried out is in compliance with company procedures
11. Maintain safety critical equipment in accordance with regulations
12. Perform Area Authority duties under eCoW
13. Support all project and de-commissioning works to plant and equipment, where required
14. Support diagnostic activities and analysis to rectify faults
15. Report all work completed in CMMS (SAP).
16. Responsible for management and completion of competency profile (CPP).
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
1. Previous experience in the oil and gas/petrochemical industry in a similar or equivalent role
2. Experience and competence in the following areas:
3. Basic in mechanics
4. Hydrocarbon processing equipment maintenance
5. Utility system maintenance
6. Hydraulic/pneumatic systems maintenance
7. Maintenance to rotating equipment (gas turbines, pumps, generators, compressors, diesel engines seals and bearings) and ancillary equipment
8. Alignment of rotating equipment
9. Condition monitoring and data collection
10. Valve maintenance and repair
11. Basic joint integrity, removal of insulation, abrasive wheels.
12. Installation and assembly of small-bore tubing.
13. Good awareness of work planning and scheduling
14. Good understanding and comfortable with the use of P&IDs
15. Familiarity of CMMS – SAP or equivalent work management system.
16. Performing Authority (Permit to Work system)
17. Familiar with COSHH
18. Educated to ONC level or equivalent
19. Industry recognized apprenticeship in mechanical maintenance.
20. Appropriate vocational qualifications or certification in mechanical maintenance
