We are pleased to advertise a maternity cover post at The Bridge Special School in Telford.
This role is part of an integrated special school nursing team across Shropshire and Telford and to ensure familiarity of the children and young people's needs, the post holder based at The Bridge School will work at least 1 day every half term at the Severndale School. There may also be times when staff need to work flexibly across our school sites on request.
Operational hours are Monday- Friday 08.30-16.30 however on occasions there may be the need for the post holder to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service, including seeing the children in their own homes or other community settings and where appropriate supporting an 24/7 end of life care package.
As the post holder's main duties will be during core school hours, annual leave must be taken during school holidays, following a request and approval process to ensure the service is covered throughout the year.
The post holder will need to be able to meet the travel requirements of the role.

Main duties of the job
* To have responsibility for a delegated workload as agreed with the Team Leader and senior nurse.
* To work in partnership and demonstrate excellence in communication with school staff, professional teams, parents, carers and children.
* Contribute to the identification and prevention of child abuse or neglect in line with national and local child protection guidance and procedures.
* To actively engage and encourage the involvement of service users/carers in the planning and delivery of care.
* To be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for children & young people in school as appropriate to their individual needs under supervision of a senior nurse.
* To provide training and supervision to support workers in the school environment delivering care to children ensuring delegated nursing tasks are safely and effectively undertaken.
