Field Service Engineer – Precision Measurement Equipment Location: Halifax & Surrounding Areas Salary: Competitive Bonus Overtime Company Van Hours: Monday to Friday (No Weekends) The Opportunity Our client, a global leader in precision measurement technology, is seeking a skilled Field Service Engineer to join their team, supporting customers across Halifax and the North of the UK. This field-based role is ideal for someone with a strong mechanical bias and a background in precision engineering, who is comfortable working independently and directly with customers. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, servicing, repairing, and calibrating high-precision metrology equipment at customer sites. The position is supported by a central service team based at the company’s UK headquarters in Andover, and while the primary territory is the North of England, some wider UK travel and occasional overnight stays may be required. Key Responsibilities Install a variety of precision measuring instruments and systems on-site for customers Perform servicing, calibration and maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance Troubleshoot and diagnose faults in mechanical and electrical systems, including board replacements and system testing Maintain detailed service reports and communicate clearly with both customers and internal teams Deliver a high level of technical expertise and build trusted relationships with customers. Candidate Requirements HNC, BTEC or Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent industry experience) Strong hands-on background in precision engineering with a mechanical bias Experience in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical/electrical systems Excellent communication skills, a strong eye for detail and the ability to work independently Good IT proficiency for logging service reports and diagnostics Previous field service experience Familiarity with equipment such as CMMs or other metrology tools Strong interpersonal and time management skills Interest in developing a long-term career with a market-leading business Full and valid UK driving licence Why This Role?
