Job Opportunity
We are part of a large integrated drug and alcohol service working with some of Cornwall's most excluded and disadvantaged people. Successful candidates will work as part of the adult community team, alongside in-house services which include outreach, hospital, clinical and criminal justice.
Reporting to the Head of Service Delivery, with supervision from an Associate Medical Director, you will lead and be responsible for the provision of medical care in our service, ensuring that our standards of care allow service users to achieve their recovery goals. You work alongside the Clinical Lead to guide and support clinical staff working within the service, working hand in hand with the service manager to foster a continuous improvement mindset and ensuring that evidence based best practice is delivered in line with national, organisational and local standards.
The successful candidate will be based in either the Truro, Liskeard or Penzance services - please state in your cover letter which service is preferred. The successful candidate will work part-time hours (2-3 days a week).
You will promote a care quality governance structure that is built on open engagement, enquiry and learning, whilst working collaboratively across professional and organisational boundaries, to maximise the potential for delivering excellent care quality. It will be vital for you to develop strong and positive relationships with key stakeholders and commissioners for the continuity of service, as well as leading on delivering opioid substitution and detoxification treatment, alcohol detoxification and relapse prevention treatment and other clinical interventions.
Essential Skills
You will be a compassionate and motivated doctor, holding GMC registration, with the ability to connect quickly with the people we support, treating them respectfully and with dignity. We’re looking for substantial experience working within the substance misuse arena, as well as experience working in a supervisory role within a multidisciplinary team. You will be highly organised, with excellent communication skills and able to manage your time effectively. It is important that you have sound knowledge of current health and social care issues, with the specific knowledge around the relationship between offending and substance misuse. Above all, we are looking for someone who is passionate about what we do, with a positive and engaging approach to our service users and staff.
You will have:
* RCGP Certificate Level 1 in Management of Drug Misuse
* RCGP Part 1 in Management of Alcohol Problems in Primary Care
* Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent GP certification + RCGP Certificate Level 2 in Management of Drug Misuse
* OST prescribing experience
* A successful track record of responsibility and development of others
