THE BUSINESS
Westray Recruitment Group is seeking an innovative Graduate Product/Furniture Designer to join our client based in South Tyneside. In this role, you will be instrumental in creating new furniture designs, developing detailed drawings using SolidWorks, and producing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Additionally, you will generate website diagrams and assembly instructions, participate in research and development, and conduct market research. This flexible position offers up to 40 hours per week with the possibility of up to 25% remote working.
THE ROLE
1. Develop and produce detailed furniture drawings and designs using SolidWorks.
2. Generate website diagrams and clear, concise assembly instructions for our products.
3. Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for manufacturing processes.
4. Seek out new suppliers and materials to enhance product quality and reduce costs.
5. Conduct market research to identify trends and opportunities for new products.
6. Participate in research and development initiatives to innovate and improve our furniture offerings.
7. Budget and cost new furniture designs to ensure they are market-ready.
8. Travel to industry exhibitions and events to gather inspiration and identify potential opportunities.
9. Stay updated with industry trends, materials, and technologies.
10. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet functional and aesthetic requirements.
THE PERSON
1. Proficiency in SolidWorks.
2. Excellent budgeting and costing skills.
3. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and materials.
4. Experience in creating SOPs, assembly instructions, and technical diagrams.
5. Flexibility to travel to exhibitions and events as required.
6. Ability to conduct thorough market research and present findings.
7. Strong communication and collaboration skills.
8. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
9. Creative problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail.
