We are recruiting for a Mechanical Handling Field Service Engineer to cover postcodes within the areas of Birmingham to Leicester. The position is full-time, and we would love you to work within our Service Department to maintain, repair, service, and modify a range of material handling equipment.
Responsibilities
We would love your help with:
* Services, maintaining and overhauling, fault finding, and resolving issues on a range of material handling products.
Servicing
* Gas, diesel, and electric powered forklift trucks
* Using check sheets to ensure brakes, lifting assembly & steering are in working order
* Changing oil and filters as necessary
* Conducting thorough examinations pending qualifications
* Performing preventative maintenance, such as lubricating steering and lifting equipment.
Battery Maintenance
* Check voltages and fluid levels of forklift trucks, using meters and hydrometers.
Qualifications and Skills of the Forklift Field Service Engineer
You will have worked with material handling products or hold an engineering position and are looking for the next step to further your career; however, we are open to considering candidates from other backgrounds such as Automotive, Roadside recovery, Agricultural, REME, Construction Equipment, PSV, HGV, LGV, or Plant.
* Respond to breakdowns.
* Build a good rapport with customers and deal promptly with customer downtime.
* Show initiative and help to support and direct others.
* Achieve agreed targets, e.g., response time.
* Complete documentation to company standards.
* Liaise with our parts team to ensure appropriate stock levels are held on the company vehicle.
* Work on mobile machinery (brakes, steering, wheels, lift chains, etc.)
* Experience in Electrical drive and control systems, Diesel and LPG engines, and common drive-trains.
* Hydraulics experience is a plus.
Essential Requirements
* Full UK driving license.
* City and Guilds in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering related field.
* Diagnostic computer skills.
* Qualified in related field or similar years of experience.
* Able to work unsupervised as required.
* Experience in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering in heavy goods / plant machinery / automotive.
