Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Finance Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will support the financial operations of the organisation by assisting in various accounting tasks, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. This role is crucial for the smooth functioning of our financial processes.
Responsibilities
1. Check, review and input supplier invoices into our Xero accounting system in a timely manner, ensuring that the correct description, values, general ledger and fund codes are captured.
2. Reconcile supplier statements, deal with any invoice or supplier queries and prepare a schedule of payments.
3. Raise sales invoices in accordance with internal procedures, ensuring they are correctly coded.
4. Maintain the sales ledger and allocate payments received.
5. Conduct reconciliations of bank and credit card statements on a regular basis.
6. Oversee the repayment of expenses to staff.
7. Maintain and update financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
8. Support period end processes as required.
9. Assist in the preparation of financial reports, budgets, and forecasts.
10. Provide administrative support to the team as required, ensuring they are aware of and work to our finance policies and procedures.
11. Support with any other duties as required.
12. Plan, organise and manage your own workload to ensure that our financial records are up to date and that information is available as and when required.
Requirements
1. At least one year working in a finance post, ideally within the charity sector.
2. Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational skills and the ability to analyse and interpret financial data.
3. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
4. Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
5. A willingness to learn and adapt to new systems and processes.
6. Agree with and will adhere to the objectives of the charity.
