This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual employed by the CYPF directorate, to support Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement in research within their directorate.
The post holder will be seconded to Research & Development (R&D) for day-a-week to work with the R&D PPIE Lead in engaging researchers, patients, carers and the public in developing and accessing research.
The purpose of the role is to foster a culture in which research is rooted in routine clinical practice. Our strategic intent is underpinned by an environment where patient and public involvement (PPI) and engagement (PPE) is embedded in relevant research activity in a way that adds real value and impact which benefits our patients.
This post involves supporting the PPIE Lead and researchers connect with patients, carers and the public to engage in directorate level research. This will include identifying appropriate PPIE groups accessing the services and helping to organise and facilitate meetings of mixed lay and expert research representation and inclusion. The post also involves liaising with clinical colleagues and supporting the R&D PPIE Lead in developing PPIE engagement material for use within the CYPF directorate.
Main duties of the job
Support the PPIE Lead to:
1. support researchers with connecting with patients, carers and the public to engage in directorate level research.
2. identify appropriate PPIE groups accessing the services, organise and facilitate meetings of inclusive mixed lay and expert research representation.
3. develop PPIE engagement material for use within the respective clinical directorate
4. identify appropriate lay input from the clinical services who could input into PPIE review of research projects
5. identify good PPIE practice in research, draft positive stories and facilitate effective communications coming out of their respective directorate.
Work within and represent your service directorate to:
6. Coordinate recruitment of service users and carers accessing clinical services to be actively involved in R&D activities.
7. Develop appropriate and informative advertisements, role descriptions and agreements for people wanting to be involved in research.
8. Embed diversity and inclusion best practices into CPFT research involvement activities within their directorate.
9. Engage with clinical colleagues within their directorate on research activities relevant to the services and patient groups.
10. Represent directorate level PPIE activity at the CPFT R&D Operations Meeting, where possible in person or via reporting into the R&D PPIE lead.
Some flexibility in role delivery and location may be needed to engage with the various groups.
