What you will do: - Dispense and administer medicines to prisoners in line with valid prescriptions and established protocols. - Conduct medicines reconciliation upon prisoner admission to ensure accurate medication records. - Manage stock control, including ordering, checking expiry dates, and ensuring proper storage of medicines. - Handle controlled drugs safely and in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements. - Provide advice and counselling to prisoners regarding their medications, including potential side effects and adherence. - Support and supervise pharmacy assistants and other healthcare staff as required. - Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with regulatory standards. - Contribute to the development and review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for medicines management. - Participate in training sessions for prison staff and healthcare colleagues to promote safe medicine use. - Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care and patient safety. - Uphold confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of the role. Qualifications and Experience: - Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council GPhC. - Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician qualification or equivalent. - Previous experience working under the supervision of a pharmacist or senior pharmacy technician is essential. - Experience in a secure or custodial healthcare setting is desirable but not essential.
