Job overview
An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic innovative individual to join our Gynaecology Cancer Team.
You will have a keen interest in the field of Gynaecological cancer.
You will provide holistic support to patients and their families/carers whilst undergoing investigations and treatment for gynaecological cancers.
You must possess excellent interpersonal skills, as well as the drive, vision and initiative to motivate others and meet the demands of the service.
Main duties of the job
* Work collaboratively with patients and professional staff delivering high quality care across the organisation.
* Provide specialist nursing care and support to women with gynaecological cancer and their families/carers across the organisation to manage their symptoms effectively.
* Work with all members of the MDT and Macmillan Gynaecology Oncology Nursing teams, always acting as an advocate.
* Support patients in all care settings including inpatient wards and undertake support worker led clinics, support patients in medically led outpatients.
* Be responsible for assessing and recognising gynaecology emergencies, and escalate appropriately to senior members of the team.
* Contribute to the learning, including formal teaching for all staff caring for women with gynaecological cancers.
* Contribute to the production of reports as required including documentation to support the Cancer Quality Assurance process.
* Demonstrate effective leadership.
* Demonstrate a professional approach to work and promote positive relationships with all members of the Gynaecology Oncology Multidisciplinary Team, and all departments within the NCA, as well as the external stakeholders.
* Work collaboratively with the Gynaecology Macmillan Clinical Specialist (CNS) teams and the directorates to provide a seamless service, which is responsive to patients, carers and relatives' needs.

Person specification
Qualifications
* GCSEs Grade C or above in Maths and English Language / New GCSE Grade 4-9 in Maths and English Language OR Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and English or Equivalent
* Qualification in healthcare related subject / equivalent knowledge and experience at Level 3 or above (e.g.: Health and Social Care / Diagnostics and Therapeutics)
* High standard of English and an ability to convey information accurately, succinctly and in a sensitive manner both verbally and in writing
* Communication Skills Training or willingness to undertake
Knowledge, Training & Experience
* Excellent communication skills with experience of dealing with challenging / distressing situations
* Understanding of personalised care and the importance of this
* Excellent organisation, planning and time management skills
* Experience of providing support to people affected by cancer
* Experience of undertaking holistic needs assessments
* Knowledge of cancer, cancer treatments and cancer pathways
* Knowledge of support services within local areas
* Willingness to undertake appropriate training identified by the Line Manager
Skills & Abilities
* Demonstrable IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
* Ability to work flexibly across NCA sites
* Effective interpersonal and communication skills (written, oral and electronic)
* Effective organisational skills, attention to detail and problem-solving skills
