Job Description
Dunbartonshire and Argyll & Bute Valuation Joint Board is an independent local government body. We compile and maintain the Valuation Rolls, Council Tax Valuation Lists and Registers of Electors for the Argyll & Bute, East Dunbartonshire and West Dunbartonshire Council areas. The Board employs approximately 50 people across our office locations in Clydebank and Campbeltown. We provide professional high quality, transparent, effective and responsive services to all of our stakeholders.
We are currently seeking 2 Divisional Valuers to be based at either our Clydebank or Campbeltown offices. Blended home and office working is available through our Agile Working Policy.
Candidates should be a Professional Member or Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Valuation Faculty) with knowledge and experience of the law and practice of valuation for Council Tax and Non Domestic Rating.
In addition to property inspections and valuations, analysing rental transactions, devising schemes of valuation, negotiating complex proposals / appeals with professional agents and acting as expert witness, you will be required to assist with the direction, supervision and organisation of professional and technical employees and will deputise for the Divisional Assessor as required. In addition, you will be required to provide evidence as an expert witness at Tribunal hearings.
Applicants must be computer literate and should have excellent communication/negotiation and team working skills. You will have a positive, professional, and responsible attitude. Coupled with the ability to multi-task, while ensuring strict deadlines are achieved. You will have the ability to work as part of a team or individually, and be expected to guide and mentor other members of the valuation team.
