Main duties of the job Function as a team member of the Multidisciplinary Team by assisting the Registered Nurse in the delivery of effective high quality patient care. All work undertaken by the post holder will be under direct supervision of the Registered Nurse. On-Call Please note that senior positions (AFC band 8A or above) may be expected to participate in an on-call rota, if the role is predominantly operational. Detailed job description and main responsibilities Assist patients with the provision of washing, dressing, personal care, beverages and/or meals. Assist qualified nursing and medical staff where requested. Communicate with all members of the team to maintain a good service provision. Ensure that all patients are able to meet their hygiene needs, providing a level of assistance appropriate to the individual. Prepare and support the patient appropriately during any activity that is to be undertaken. Alert the registered nurse where you notice any changes in the patient's health and well-being or any possible risks. Ensure effective use of material resources/supplies within the ward/unit in consultation with senior staff. Assist with the general cleaning and re-stocking of resources where appropriate as well as cleaning and preparing patients beds. Contribute to own personal development and take an active part in learning opportunities. Person specification Addtional Essential criteria Flexible and able to work on any ward and site within the Trust Ability to work internal rotational shifts Speak English to an appropriate standard relevant to their role, i.e. with confidence and accuracy, using correct sentence structures and vocabulary, and without hesitation Knowledge Essential criteria Effective understanding of confidentiality Desirable criteria Knowledge of individualised patient care delivery Skills Essential criteria Effective communication skills - written and verbal Proven ability to demonstrate compassion/empathy/help others Effective team player Effective customer service skills Ability to deal with people from all backgrounds Proven ability to remain calm under pressure Experience Essential criteria Demonstrable ability to follow instructions Desirable criteria Previous experience working in a hospital setting.
