Role Overview:
IgnitED 2025 is a 5-day interactive careers experience programme for local 14-17 year old students, held at the University of Chichester (18-22nd August 2025).
IgnitED is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Programme Mentors to join our team designing, creating, and delivering the careers experience.
The programme consists of practical workshops, industry visits, guidance on pathways into careers, professional coaching, and making new friends with a network like minded peers who share aspirations.
Successful Mentor applicants will bring a working knowledge of pathways into one of 8 fields; Medicine, Law, Business & Finance, Engineering, Architecture, The Arts, Marketing and Brand Management, or 'Find your Flame' (for pupils exploring various industries).
Applications are also welcome from university students and Teaching faculty.
This contract role involves two key components: programme development and in-person delivery.
Responsibilities:
1. Immediate Start: Programme Development (Remote)
o Research, draft, and create a 5-day interactive and practical programme focused on one of the course industries.
o Collaborate with the Programme Director and utilise IgnitED's Professional Network to ensure the programme's content is comprehensive, engaging, and aligned with industry standards.
2. 18-22nd August 2025: Programme Delivery (in person)
o Lead the in-person delivery of your programme at the University of Chichester in August.
o Ensure a dynamic and interactive learning environment for the participants.
o Be present on-site and on industry visits from approximately 8am to 6pm during the 5-day, non-residential, programme.

Compensation:
• Remuneration for this contract role is £2,000.

Successful applicants will
• Contract for services: Successful applicants will sign a contract that clearly outlines the terms of your engagement, responsibilities, and your status as an independent contractors. This contract will specify that you are responsible for your own tax declarations and payments.
• DBS Checks: Since you will be working with young people under the age of 18, it is essential to conduct Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks to ensure your meet the necessary safeguarding standards. This step helps protect the safety and well-being of all participants.
• Safeguarding Policies: All contracted Mentors will sign a declaration to confirm they are fully aware of and adhere to IgnitED's safeguarding policies. Induction on these policies will help ensure responsibilities are understood and maintain the importance of a safe environment for all.

SHOULD YOU BE SUCCESSFUL
• You will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS), and equivalent if you live, or have lived, outside of the UK
• Any gaps in your CV will be enquired about and must be explained satisfactorily
• You will have to prove your Right to Work in the UK
• You will provide the details of two recent and relevant referees who we will contact and specifically ask about your suitability to work with children and any concerns.
• You will be asked to state that you have no known reason why you cannot work with children
• Official identification and certificates will be required for our records
