Street Lighting Operative / Electrician Location: Mountsorrel / Croft Up to £17.26PH Job Type: full time ongoing temporary Join our client's dedicated Environment & Transport team as a Street Lighting Operative / Electrician. This role is crucial in maintaining, renewing, and installing street lighting installations, traffic signs, traffic signals, and all associated electrical work. You will ensure all operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and economically, adhering to current legislation. Day-to-day of the role: Test street lighting, traffic signs, and building installations to diagnose faults. Supervise maintenance activities to ensure operational standards are met. Identify and report on electrical or structural defects, and potential failures. Perform high-level and ground electrical works on lighting and sign installations. Conduct electrical installation work in various buildings, adhering to IEE Regulations. Service, adjust, and repair electrical installations or components using appropriate tools and equipment. Interpret technical instructions, implement data, and handle manufacturers’ modifications. Maintain personal tool kit and equipment in a secure and safe condition. Organise daily workloads for the team to maintain efficient work continuity. Drive and maintain specialist vehicles and operate various plant tools as required. Required Skills & Qualifications: Proven experience as an Electrician or in a similar role, preferably in street lighting or traffic systems. Familiarity with IEE Regulations and ability to work according to safety standards. Competence in using electrical repair tools and equipment. Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as required by operational demands. Good communication skills for interacting with the public and other stakeholders. Valid driving licence and ability to operate hydraulic platform vehicles and other heavy machinery. City & Guilds 236 Electrical Installation Parts 1 and 2. Licence “B” class LGV License ‘C’ Class. National Road Street Works Act Mobile Elevated Work Platforms licence Evidence of electrical experience, preferably in an electrical installation environment Evidence of experience of all aspects of Highway Maintenance and Construction work. Driving and maintaining specialist hydraulic platform vehicle and operating heavy plant machinery, including air compressors, saws and vibrating plant tools.
