TalentBoard are looking for a Classroom Supervisor (Cover Supervisor) to join our team supporting secondary schools across the Wirral. This role is ideal for those considering moving into education or for someone already working in education looking to gain new opportunities and expand their experience. The successful applicant does not need to have previous experience in the role, but will be confident presenting information to groups of people and ideally have experience in leading groups.
Duties
1. Supervise classes during the short-term absence of the assigned teacher.
2. Deliver pre-prepared lesson plans and materials provided by teaching staff.
3. Manage classroom behaviour, ensuring a safe and focused learning environment.
4. Support students in completing assigned work and answer general queries where possible.
5. Follow the school’s policies and procedures, including safeguarding and health and safety protocols.
6. Provide feedback to teaching staff on student engagement and any issues that arise.
7. Assist with administrative tasks, such as taking attendance and ensuring the classroom is left tidy.
8. Cover a variety of subjects and year groups, adapting to different learning needs.
9. Act as a positive role model, promoting the values and ethos of the school.
10. Liaise with other staff members to ensure continuity and support for students.
Qualifications
1. Ideally educated to degree level.
2. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
3. Confidence in managing classroom behaviour and maintaining discipline.
4. Adaptability and flexibility to work with various age groups and subjects.
5. A calm, patient, and approachable manner.
6. Ability to follow instructions and deliver pre-prepared materials effectively.
7. Strong organisational skills to manage tasks and time efficiently.
8. A proactive approach with the ability to think on your feet and problem-solve.
9. Awareness of safeguarding responsibilities and a commitment to student welfare.
10. A professional attitude, demonstrating reliability and punctuality.
11. Enthusiasm for education and a genuine interest in supporting students’ learning.
