The Thermal Ceramics division designs, manufactures and installs a broad range of thermal insulation products that significantly reduce energy consumption and emissions in a variety of high temperature processing applications. Our product offering is extensive and covers application needs from Industrial to Commercial markets.

The main purpose of this role is to execute the Development activities and deliverables on behalf of Thermal Ceramics for a dedicated 6-month fixed term commercial contract for Solid State battery material supply.
Responsibilities
1. Perform basic experimental and technical investigations towards the acquisition of new knowledge.
2. Design chemical, physical, and engineering protocols for laboratory-scale tests, with a view to proving fitness-for-use / product specifications or process validation. Oversees testing may be required.
3. Interpret and report test results with implications for further design.
4. Choose, specify, and acquire all equipment and consumables relating to said technical activity.
5. Schedule and undertake equipment maintenance and calibration.
6. Develop and make small, medium, and large-scale powder synthesis of a prescribed chemical formula for achieving targeted properties and quantities to achieve small-scale milestone deliverables on budget and within stipulated timeframe.
7. Perform risk assessments on new tests and equipment prior to use.
8. Form links with external suppliers to conduct proving trials with their products.
9. Establish the need for technology change.
10. Apply stage gate methodology to projects.
11. Weekly, monthly, and yearly reporting on projects as required.
12. Execute the role ethically and in accordance with the Morgan Leadership Behaviours.
13. Actively participate in Morgan ThinkSAFE, Take 5, and other safety-related initiatives and reporting requirements.
14. Actively develop IP and maintain project IP within very limited scope of disclosure.
15. Environmental, Health & Safety, Risk & Compliance.
Qualifications
1. Engineering Degree, Masters or MBA educated (or equivalent role-based experience)
2. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
3. Extensive knowledge and experience in a relevant field
4. Working knowledge of Stage Gate methodology and other PMO tools
5. Previous experience of ceramic/glass powder synthesis on small and large scale
6. Quickly discerns key facts and differentiates between relevant and irrelevant information
7. Can demonstrate a proven ability to deliver on programmes and projects
8. Is innovative, collaborative and demonstrates integrity
