To organise and utilise manpower to meet targets and demands of the production programme, and be responsible for safe storage, accuracy and timely delivery to the line of all materials. The recruitment, retention, development and safe working practices of all logistics staff will be managed by the Stores Manager. Assisting the Head of Logistics in accomplishing the company's objectives, adhering to policies and procedures and always leading by example are key objectives of this role. Key Tasks In consultation with the Head of Logistics determine appropriate level and competency of staff and ascertain training needs in line with the future needs of the business. Ensure that labour is planned and utilised effectively to deliver the operational plans & KPI's. Responsible for the safe and accurate receipt of goods to the business, storage and kitting of said goods and delivery to our production cells as required. Ensure that all employees are fully conversant and compliant with the Company's Quality Assurance & Health, Safety and Environmental policies. Responsible for the Health and Safety of all employees in the Department, which extends to visitors to the Departmental areas i.e production staff, engineers, management and delivery drivers. Manage the performance of individuals within the teams, including recruitment, training, discipline, motivation and recognition. Ensuring that there is adequate supervision of stores activities to maintain progress and continuously improve the department. To ensure all staff receive annual appraisals and performance objectives and ensure these are reviewed. Plan and manage all activities around maintaining stock accuracy, including rolling stock-takes, annual stocktakes and full investigation where there are discrepancies. Reporting and delivering all KPI's which drive the stores function to continuously improve, ensuring all levels of staff in the stores know what is expected of them. Highlight to Head of Logistics issues that have arisen and cannot be resolved that may impact the service the Stores function provides to the rest of the business. Work with the Head of Logistics and other stakeholders to find a resolution. Consult with the Scheduling Team on any known/expected delivery shortages of materials and bought in items and if any special arrangements have to be made for receipt. In conjunction with the Facilities team, ensure that the stores and receipting areas are safe and fit for purpose, and that maintenance issues are reported and dealt with promptly. Be responsible for the company's fleet of forktrucks/handling equipment and any vans under the control of the stores team, ensuring they are safe, well-maintained, and looked after by the department staff. Ensuring only authorised and trained staff are permitted to use the equipment for which they are trained.
