The Role:
As a Lead SACT Nurse with us, you'll play a pivotal role in being responsible for providing specialist nursing leadership and effective management of resources whilst ensuring a high standard of nursing care is delivered to all patients accessing the service. You will also ensure appropriate support is given to patients, their families and other healthcare professionals following diagnosis and through all stages of disease trajectory. What You'll Do:
1. Ensure all patients have an accurate plan of care, reflecting the assessment undertaken and incorporating issues and recommendations.
2. Ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
3. Demonstrate advanced knowledge and skills in intravenous access, the management of central venous catheters, venesection, and chemotherapy delivery, including the management of anaphylaxis and extravasation.
What You'll Have:
Experience and skills:
1. Registered Nurse minimum 5 years’ experience.
2. Experience of working in a private patient setting.
3. An advanced practitioner either through formal qualification (as above) and/or extensive clinical experience within oncology and chemotherapy administration.
4. Experience in clinical leadership.
5. Experience in budgetary management.
6. Ability to impart complex information to patients, relatives and carers, with different levels of understanding.
7. Ability to build up a rapport with patients, staff and external providers.
8. Have proven experience of service development.
9. Experience of running research and audit programmes.
10. Experience of working with the private health sector.
Qualifications and Knowledge:
1. Accredited chemotherapy course.
2. NMC Level 1 or Level 15 Registered Nurse.
3. Degree (Bsc) or equivalent in a health-related subject.
4. Relevant post-registration qualification in oncology/chemotherapy administration.
5. Ideally holding an ALS level with the Resuscitation Council or be willing to be trained to that level of competency.
6. Understanding of clinical governance and risk assessment.
7. Clear understanding of safeguarding procedures.
