Socialite Rooftop Restaurant and Bar, Canterbury is a modern and stylish all-day restaurant, situated in the heart of Canterbury with the best views of the Cathedral. Our cocktail bar is full of signature cocktails and all the classics. We have a fine dinning restaurant with outdoor seating in the summer plus a lounge/bar area serving small plates all day.
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead our kitchen team in delivering exceptional culinary experiences. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of food production and preparation, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety. As the Head Chef, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the menu, supervising kitchen operations, and ensuring that our restaurant remains a top choice for guests seeking quality dining.
Duties
- Oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, ensuring efficient food production and preparation.
- Develop and design innovative menus that reflect current culinary trends while catering to customer preferences.
- Supervise and train kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative team environment to enhance productivity and morale.
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety regulations and hygiene standards to ensure the well-being of both staff and customers.
- Manage inventory levels, ordering supplies as necessary to maintain optimal stock without excess waste.
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service and address any customer feedback regarding food quality or presentation.
- Monitor kitchen performance and implement improvements as needed to enhance efficiency and quality.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or in a similar leadership role within the hospitality industry.
- Strong knowledge of food production techniques, food safety practices, and kitchen management.
- Exceptional team management skills with the ability to motivate and inspire staff.
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in both food preparation and presentation.
- A passion for culinary arts with creativity in menu development.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as required by the restaurant's operational needs.
