Job Title: Learner Support Assistant
Role Type: Temporary until July 2025
Salary: £21,242 Pro-Rata based on actual hours and weeks worked
We are expanding our learner support team and are looking for candidates who are passionate about making a positive impact on students' lives. We are looking for a passionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our team and provide high-quality academic and vocational support to SEND students during scheduled teaching and learning sessions.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide effective support in taught sessions to students with SEND to create equality of opportunity within the classroom.
- Motivate and enthuse SEND students to fully participate within the curriculum.
- Gain a clear understanding of students' SEND requirements and implement the support outlined within their support plan and/or Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
- Support students in a way that promotes independence as much as possible.
Main Tasks:
- Supporting and encouraging students in their college work.
- Maintaining daily logs of support using the College's information system, ProMonitor.
- Providing small group and 1:1 support in lessons to learners with SEND.
- Supporting students to understand and interpret instructions.
- Accessing schemes of work, lesson plans, and liaising with the class lecturer to ensure effective support.
- Note taking when necessary.
- Offering practical assistance in the classroom/workshop as necessary.
Requirements
* A level 2 qualification in Maths and English
* A minimum of a level 3 qualification
* Experience in supporting students in a classroom environment with SEND
* Knowledge and understanding of the challenges and demands of working with people with SEND
* Excellent oral communication and inter-personal skills in order to work effectively with students and mainstream staff.
* Empathy, sensitivity and ability to develop and sustain a rapport with both staff and students
* Good organisational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and assist students in record keeping/portfolios assembly (where appropriate).
* Basic competency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, or equivalent packages.
